RTD Financial Advisors, Inc., is offering a paid Financial Planning summer internship in our Philadelphia office.

If you are working toward a degree in financial planning and/or a CFP® designation, and your career goal is to become a financial planner, we are interested in you. While having completed courses in financial planning courses is definitely a plus, the most important attribute is a strong desire to be an outstanding financial planner.

Over the summer you will have the opportunity to work with several financial planners and other members of the firm. This is a unique opportunity to learn from, and be a part of a progressive financial planning firm. The position entails experiencing many different aspects of financial planning and having fun doing so.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate as an active member of the firm, embracing RTD’s Financial Life Planning process
  • Assist in preparation for client meetings
  • Draft follow up letters, create emails and input actions from meetings into CRM software
  • Participate in financial plan implementation
  • Attend client meetings and 401k enrollment meetings, as the opportunities arise
  • Prepare reports and analysis based on client service requests
  • Interpret and input summarized tax information for each client into CRM software
  • Assist in summarizing estate planning documents
  • Serve as a member of RTD’s Plan Y Committee
  • Attend RTD’s Financial Planning, Investment, and Retirement Committee meetings
  • Assist various committees with specific projects
  • Commit to continuing financial planning education
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Senior Financial Planner

Key Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Seeking a defined career path in financial planning
  • At least 3-5 years of client-facing work experience in a financial planning firm
  • Certified Financial PlannerTM – CFP® designation
  • B.A. or B.S. degree from accredited four year university
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Very organized, with acute attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter, problem solver and a goal-oriented team player with a ‘no job is beneath me’ attitude     
  • Have the ability to attract and develop new client relationships for the firm

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Financial Planning Process using RTD’s Discover, Plan Live Approach
  • Lead client meetings and maintain relationships through regular communication
  • Complete follow-up communication and implementation of actions that result from client meetings
  • Update database with notes and actions
  • Communicate with client’s outside advisors such as accountants and attorneys
  • Receive inbound client phone calls and emails, either addressing their needs or directing them to the appropriate team member
  • Collaborate with associate planners and support staff in preparing for meetings
  • Develop and train associate planners and support staff for future advancement
  • Actively participate in business development    
  • Participate in and Chair the firm’s various committees in pursuit of the company’s goals
  • Continue our firm’s history of giving back/volunteering by enthusiastically participating in the growth of our profession through industry associations such as FPA and NAPFA
